Hotel Enai, Pto Maldonado, Peru
The word Enai comes from the local indigenous languages, and means “related to water”. The first question we asked ourselves whith this project is how you design and build in a tropical environment. Our integrated design approach (architecture, interior design, even the logo) was the answer. We elevated the architecture from the ground, ensuring airflow and better temperature conditions. This is a typical architectural strategy of the Amazonian region, and we made sure that our proposal included as much of this vernacular tradition as possible, using natural and local materials, such as stone and local wood, and showing them as part of the built environment.
